Autism Assessments

Our Clinical Psychologists and Neuropsychologists offer thorough and personalised Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessments for ages 6 and over, focusing on understanding your unique qualities and challenges. Tailored to each person's strengths and areas needing support, our experienced team employs a collaborative and compassionate approach. We go beyond diagnostic labels, providing valuable insights to empower individuals and their support networks with personalised intervention strategies. If you seek a comprehensive ASD assessment for yourself or your child that values individuality, our team is here to help you every step of the way.

What does the ASD assessment involve?

1. Pre - Assessment Consultation

This 50-60 minute consultation allows us to understand you or your child's development and address any concerns you may have. Based on this and the pre-assessment forms you have completed, we will make recommendations and support you with the next steps.

2. Diagnostic Assessment

This component involves a comprehensive diagnostic interview with you (and a one-on-one observation of your child) exploring you or your child's developmental and behavioural patterns over time and can take 2-4 hrs. Information may also be collected from other healthcare professionals, friends/family, and teachers.

3. Post-Assessment

We provide you (and referrers) with a comprehensive report outlining the assessment findings, including diagnostic information, treatment recommendations, and a personalised roadmap to help guide you towards improved mental health and resilience. We will also have a 30-minute online feedback session with you to answer any questions.

**Cognitive Assessment: As Autism often co-occurs with other conditions such as ADHD, Dyslexia, and learning difficulties, our Neuropsychologists may recommend some cognitive testing (2-3 hrs) on a separate day to ensure we don't miss anything.

Is autism assessment covered by Medicare?

If you are under 25 years old and have a referral from a paediatrician or psychiatrist, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for complex neurodevelopmental disorder assessments. More information can be found here.
